Darksiders 3 is real and its first details come compliments of an Amazon leak

The long-suspected next chapter in the Darksiders series is finally confirmed. Sort of.

An Amazon listing for Darksiders 3 outs the existence of the not-yet-officially-revealed game — and then some. The product page includes story details, screenshots, concept art, platforms — PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One — and a vague 2018 release timeframe.

Bear in mind: some of what you’re about to read may be subject to change. The listing is obviously real and the handful of specifics we get are probably locked, but nothing is truly confirmed until an announcement is made.

Darksiders 3 casts players in the role of Fury, a red-headed lady mage armed with a nasty-looking whip and the ability to channel magic into different forms. Fury’s shape-changing empowers her ability to explore and fight in as-yet-unrevealed ways.

The story — which is set once again in a freely explorable open world caught between the forces of Heaven and Hell — pits you against physical manifestations of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Fury is one of the four horse-riders of the apocalypse, and the third to star in a Darksiders game. The first entry in the series cast players in the role of War and the second let you take control of Death. Stay tuned for Darksiders 4, then!

The first game in the series came from Vigil Games and was published by the now-defunct THQ. The design of the world borrowed heavily from the Zelda series, with different areas requiring access to gear you’d unlock in each dungeon-style area.

Vigil changed things up in Darksiders II, giving players more world to explore and a whole new, seemingly Diablo-inspired system of loot. A third game seemed like a no-brainer… until THQ folded and its various franchises were auctioned off to competitors.

Vigil was shut down as part of THQ’s implosion, with many of the team’s creative leads moving on to form a new studio: Gunfire Games. Based on the details revealed in the Darksiders 3 Amazon listing — including temp box art featuring the developer’s logo — Gunfire is behind this sequel. As it should be.

That’s all I can tell you right now about Darksiders 3, but more details should be coming soon. Not only is the secret officially spoiled now (sorry, Gunfire), but E3 is just over a month away.
Here’s a screencap of the Amazon product page as proof, in case it gets pulled down.
